Active and Passive Voice Quiz

Level: Pre-Intermediate / Intermediate

In this active and passive voice quiz you are given 10 active voice sentences and you have to change them into the passive voice.

Remember that to make the passive voice, we make the object of the sentence into the subject, add in the correct form of the verb to be, and change the verb to the past participle.

We sometimes then move the subject to the end of the sentence, adding the word by, though we often omit that if it is clear who is doing the action.

Here is an example:

  • Peter faxes over the document (active)
  • The document is faxed over by Peter (passive)
